CELEBRATE the FROG
ECSU Design Group Spring 2004: Adam Barker, Adam Faucher, Yolanda Avery, Adam Herb, Amanda Rodenhizer, Antwane Stavis, Charissa Bass, Danielisa Ortiz, DeShawn Johson, Ejaz Bhatti, Jason Wheat, Jeremiah Macht, Kayanna Richards, Marta Guisti, Michael Ramos, Quintillian Scott, Sarabeth Merris In a class called the ECSU Design Group, graduating design students from Eastern Connecticut State University created images for billboards and mall posters, to be installed in downtown Willimantic and its neighboring towns from May through June, 2004. The billboards and mall posters commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Willimantic Frog Fable and announce FrogFest, an upcoming public art event sponsored by the Windham Area Arts Collaborative and the Windham Region United Way. FrogFest will feature 5 foot replicas of the Frog Bridge Frogs on spools, to be designed and decorated by artists and displayed throughout Willimantic in the summer and fall of 2005. To raise awareness of this upcoming event, and to celebrate the anniversary of the Frog Fable, 10 Billboards in downtown Willimantic. Brooklyn, Eastford, Putnam and Danielson, and 7 Mall Posters in Mansfields Eastbrook Mall, will direct viewers to the FrogFest website: frogfest.windhamarts.org, proclaiming in bold letters: Celebrate the Frog! The billboard and mall posters celebrate diversity in frogs as well as in community, showing many different interpretations of the Willimantic mascot, from exotic rainforest inspired frogs to cartoon frogs in party hats. The images are fun, often whimsical, and full of positive energy. Shown here are the images as well as installation photos of the billboards and mall posters. Each year, in the ECSU Design Group, senior design students at Eastern Connecticut State University, share their talents and expertise through community related design projects like this one. The ECSU Design Group is the Senior Project experience for Graphic Design students at Eastern. View Images View Installations back |
